Car parts in a Malibu

I just picked up a 1998 Malibu Sportster with the 310 hp Indmar carb engine.  The previous owner just put a NAPA car starter in it along with NAPA filters and ignition parts.  I was going to swap out all this stuff but a marine starter is like $240 so I was wonderering if there is any concerns with running this until it fails which may be from corrosion I would guess.  I am still going to get rid of the rest of the car parts regardless
