Hi All

I have 1993 prostar 190 with an Inmar 285hp carb engine total running hrs 700 and with a fresh water system ,ran fine all last season (temp @140f) until the last couple of times when the temp gauge went up to 200f plus , I switched of the engine and started 15 seconds later and temp gauge went straight back to 140f .
Boat was taken off the the lake for winter storge ,I have now just run up to check for the new season and has done the same on the hose pipe .
The engine runs fine with no misfires excess exhaust steam etc.
It has a new impelor ,t/stat ,temp sender unit ,last season all run 20 hrs, just checked the raw water pump t/stat and circulation pump all appear to be a good condition .
Any ideas on the next things to be looking at ?.
many thanks

Kevin

Hi
Is it possible that there are pieces of the old impeller that are blocking the water circulation? When you replaced the impeller, be sure you have "all of it", otherwise they will restrict water flow.
Hope that helps

You may also have to clean out the Transmission cooler. It can get grass, and stuff in it, and not run cool. its a long brass tube.  take the input hose off, and use your finger to clean it out.

Hi all

Thanks for the advice ,have now found what was causing the gauge to go up , being a bad earth on the back of the gauge , clean all the gauge terminals up and it is now fine .
